6 Vegan + Cruelty-Free Make-up Products for Under £20 to Give You Sunkissed Skin

By now, we’re all aware that the aim is healthy skin and not perfect skin (I hope 🧐). However, pimpin’ ain’t easy, and sometimes a little strategically placed make-up can go a long way.

Since the Cost of Living Crisis seems to have its foot squarely on our collective neck, I’ve scoured the plains for (in my humble opinion), 6 of the best-value vegan and cruelty-free makeup products. Most of which are under £10 (you’re welcome 😌).

All of the products listed were paid for however, we (my cat and I), will earn through the affiliate links and discount codes 💕

MUA Makeup Academy Pro Base Banana Blur Primer

The MUA Makeup Academy Pro Base Banana Blur Primer is my personal secret weapon, I can’t remember the last time I was on a job and didn’t use it. It also plays well with others - I often layer it over a dewy primer on oily/combination skins to create a natural glow that isn’t too shiny. I even buy it in doubles now so I never run out, that’s how deep my commitment runs.

Key ingredients include banana extract, which minimises the appearance of redness, creating a more even skin tone. I’ve tried it on every shade of skin, from milk to mahogany, and it’s suited everyone.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Hydrating Camo Concealer

I really like this concealer, the only tiny disclaimer I would give is that you have to set it with a very light layer of powder. Otherwise, you will get undereye creasing. Unless that’s the look you’re going for, in which case, live your life babes.

The e.l.f. Hydrating Camo Concealer has the creamiest texture and, is infused with hyaluronic acid and coconut water. Two ingredients that are famous (and rightly so), for nourishing and hydrating skin.

Decant the concealer to the back of your hand first and, then apply it to any areas you feel you need coverage using a concealer brush. I use a beauty blender, but there’s no correct tool. Make sure to spritz your face before blending and, you’ll immediately notice the difference in your glow.

e.l.f. Cosmetics Putty Bronzer

Yes, I am a big e.l.f. Cosmetics fan and no, I am not being paid. Their whole Putty range is divine and, the Putty Bronzer is my favourite product in the collection.

Key ingredients of the bronzer include shea butter and jojoba oil, which both nourish and moisturise skin. The resulting texture is super creamy, which of course, makes it way easier to blend.

I’d recommend applying the Putty Bronzer with a medium-sized fluffy brush. Then, lightly swirl it in the product and, remove any excess on the back of your hand before applying it to your face. Apply to the contours of your cheeks using small anti-clockwise circular movements to blend as you apply. If it starts to look muddy, spritz your face and blend it out.

Freck Cheekslime Lip & Cheek Tint

Pretty expensive, but very much worth it. The Freck Cheekslime Lip + Cheek Tint is basically a 2-in-1 product (thought I’d state the obvious for you), that has a delicious (yes, delicious), glossy finish. The oilier among us might find it too glossy however, I have combination skin and would strongly disagree.

The Cheekslime contains vegan collagen, which is one of the contributing factors to the juicy-looking glow it gives.

Decant a little to the back of your hand and apply slightly above where you applied your contour product, making sure they slightly overlap. I find the easiest way to apply non-powder complexion products is with a fluffy brush on a lightly spritzed face. Have a play and find out what feels right for you.

Lottie London Freckle Tint

Gone are the days when freckles were assumed to be the domain of one demographic. Freckles (real and faux) are for everyone. Just like abortion rights.

The Lottie London Freckle Tint is one of my favourite faux freckle products, packed with hydrating ingredients like glycerin, vitamin E and aloe vera. I’d like to add here, that while the presence of said ingredients is obviously great, you’re only using the 3ml product to add tiny dots to your face. Don’t skip on a serum under the delusional this will hydrate your skin.

Apply wherever you like. I like to use my little finger to lightly pat over each freckle as I apply, to create the illusion of layers. Lastly, set with a light layer of powder so you don’t sweat them off later.

I haven’t tried the other shades of this powder (this is the only brightening one in the range as far as I’m aware), however, I can attest that the Revolution Banana Brighten Baking Powder is very good. Strong words, I know.

I’m not advising you to bake your face, just a light layer of powder applied over the areas that bother you the most. For me, it’s under my eyes, around the crease of my nose and my chin. My forehead if I can be bothered, but honestly it’s a losing battle. The powder doesn’t perform miracles.
